Junkers A50 Junior now also as LSA!

What a success for Junkers Flugzeugwerke GmbH! Less than 3 years after the start of design work and only 4 months after the German type certification, the Junkers A50 Junior of Junkers Flugzeugwerke GmbH has now also been certified as a Light Sport Aircraft by the FAA. The first public presentation is at the Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, FL. Sun ’n Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, FL.

1st Junkers A50 LSA already sold!

The FAA had already issued the first Special Airworthiness Certificate, coupled with the initial conformity inspection on Feb. 28, 2023. At the same time, the A50 Junior was also entered into the FAA's Special Light-Sport Aircraft (SLSA) Make/Model Directory. Two brand new A50 LSAs will now be on display at the Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo. This rapid program progress was made possible by Kasaero's careful planning of the certification program and the excellent cooperation with our customer Junkers Flugzeugwerke GmbH. From the outset, the LSA certification was consistently planned and documented in parallel with the German type certification during design and production, so that the certification as an S-LSA, which has now taken place, represented only a small amount of additional work.

Junkers has resurrected the A50, first introduced in 1929. The new A50 retains many of the original features, including the distinctive corrugated Junkers airframe, wooden anti-slip strips and open tandem cockpits. However, the new version differs from the original in several key ways, including a Rotax 912iS engine, Garmin G3X touchscreen avionics and a Galaxy ballistic rescue system. With this blend of traditional style and modern technology, the A50 is an exciting new addition to the LSA sky.
